The instructions given directly to you were selected for your procedure and health needs. General information online cannot account for every surgical detail, medication, or medical condition.
If your ARIA instructions differ from this page
- Follow instructions provided directly by ARIA
- Do not guess
- Do not change medications on your own
- Contact the office for clarification
- Seek emergency help when symptoms are severe or life-threatening
Early Recovery Priorities
- Remain with the responsible adult when required
- Rest in the position instructed
- Follow medication instructions
- Begin foods and fluids as directed
- Protect the surgical area
- Avoid driving and restricted activities
- Review warning signs
- Keep ARIA's contact information available
For the Responsible Adult
Anesthesia or medication may affect memory, awareness, balance, and judgment. The caregiver may be responsible for:
- • Driving or accompanying the patient home
- • Receiving verbal and written instructions
- • Monitoring breathing and responsiveness
- • Helping with approved foods and fluids
- • Tracking medication according to instructions
- • Preventing driving and unsafe activity
- • Watching for concerning symptoms
- • Contacting ARIA with questions
